Real life story: Lunch hour liposuction

- Laser liposuction
- Before and after photos

Vanessa is 43 and works as an office manager in the city. She had laser liposuction two months ago, to sort out her problem tummy area. We talked to her about the process, and more importantly, the results.

Why did you decide to have laser liposuction?
"I'd always had a paunchy tummy, I lost three and a half stone, but it didn't shift. However much I dieted and exercised, I just didn't get the results I wanted."

How did you find the procedure?
"It only took about an hour and a half, and even though I'd been very nervous at consultation, afterwards I wondered what all the fuss had been about!"

Did it hurt?
"They usually put an incision in your tummy button, but I had a previous scar, so with me they went in on my bikini line and just under my rib cage. Putting in the anaesthetic was the most painful bit, but of course that quickly kicked in and then it was pain free. I even got the train home that afternoon."

How did you feel in the following days?
"I had to be careful how I stretched, there were no stitches, just steri-strips on wounds which I had to be a bit careful of. I was a bit tender, but fine to go to work.

Do you have to do anything special afterwards?
"I had to wear a corset 24 hours a day for the first two days, and then 10-12 hours a day for the next few weeks. After that I wore a compression garment. This doesn't make the treatment work any better, but it does help it work faster."

So, two months on, how do you feel about your body?
"I'm much more confident. I was always conscious of my tummy, especially if I was standing sideways on to anyone. Plus is affected what clothes I wore. Today I'm confident wearing a pencil skirt and I know it will get even better. I've dropped one clothes size already."
