Curry: the world's healthiest meal
Filed under: Food & drink, Health
There is good news for curry lovers today, as Anglo Indian chef, Gurpareet Bains claims to have created the world's "healthiest meal".
And there is something particularly pleasing about the fact that the nation's favourite meal is finally good for you.But this isn't your average chicken tikka masala. Chicken and blueberry curry with goji berry pilau rice was created by 32-year-old Bains and the inclusion of so many naturally healthy 'superfoods' means this particular curry could even help to fight off cancer.
Each serving contains the nutritional equivalent of 49 portions of spinach, 23 bunches of grapes or nine helpings of broccoli and experts say that it is up to 20 times more nutritious than your average 'healthy' meal.
Mr Bains, a British nutritional therapist and Indian 'superfood' pioneer, insists the curry could help to ward off cancer and other diseases such as Alzheimer's.
"It has long been known that some foods including spices and fruits have exceptional health benefits," he told the Telegraph.
"So combining these two genres of food stuffs seemed logical in any quest to find the world's healthiest meal.
"Thus the curry I have created is brimming with health-beneficial ingredients that could, if eaten regularly, deal a devastating blow to many diseases."
And it surely beats salad any day.
